【開発の経緯】
2023年11月、初の国外開催となる「VIVITA ROBOCON BAGUIO 2023」が開催されることになりました。
そこで当大会に僕はVIVISTOP NITOBE出身のVIVINAUT「アッシー」とタッグを組んで日本代表として出場することになりました。
海外参戦となるため、「日本の技術力と日本の文化を海外にしろしめす」ことをコンセプトにロボットを開発しました。
【外観】
外国人が日本と聞いて思い浮かべる要素を考えた結果（かつ、版権キャラを除いて）、「富士山」こそが適役であると考え、外観は「富士山そのものがロボット」を目指しました。側面には「折り紙」でできた鶴が添えられます。
外装制作には張り子と3Dプリンターを組み合わせたハイブリッドな手法を用い、富士山の質感を出すため、張り子の紙はアッシー特製の藍染め和紙を用いました。
【特徴１容易にボールを収集できる富士山裾野】
本ロボットはボールを収集するのに特化したロボットですが、収集にはアームやローラーを一切用いません。ただボールを壁に押し付ければ自動的にボールが集まる仕組みを目指しました。
【特徴２ 変形】
競技中に、富士山頭頂部が外れ、中から五重の塔が伸びるという驚愕の変形ギミックを備えています。
「人の手を介さずに見た目がガラッと変わる変形ロボット」をいつか作ってみたいとずっと考えていた僕にとっては悲願の達成となります。
五重の塔はライトアップの演出も備わり、変形に幻想的な演出を加味します。
【特徴３ 飛翔する折り鶴】
変形後、更に驚きを与えるギミックがあります。
変形前から富士山裾に停留していた折り鶴が飛翔します。これにより高台のボールを折り鶴がはたき落とすことが可能です。富士山本体は高台に登らずともボールを獲得できます。
【Development background】
“VIVITA ROBOCON BAGUIO 2023” will be held in November 2023, which will be held overseas for the first time.
Therefore, I decided to team up with VIVINAUT “Ashi” from VIVISTOP NITOBE to represent Japan in this tournament.
In order to participate in the war overseas, we developed a robot based on the concept of “Exhibiting Japanese technology and culture overseas.”
【Exterior】
After considering the elements that foreigners think of when they think of Japan (excluding copyrighted characters), we decided that “Mt. Fuji” was the perfect choice, and we aimed for the exterior to be “Mt. Fuji itself as a robot.” A crane made of origami is added to the side.
To create the exterior, we used a hybrid method that combines papier-mâché and 3D printing, and to create the texture of Mt. Fuji, we used Assy’s special indigo-dyed Japanese paper for the papier-mâché.
[Feature 1: The base of Mt. Fuji where you can easily collect balls]
This robot is specialized for collecting balls, but it does not use any arms or rollers for collecting balls. We aimed for a system in which the balls would automatically gather if you simply pushed them against the wall.
[Feature 2 Transformation]
During the competition, the top of Mt. Fuji will come off and a five-storied pagoda will extend from inside, which is an amazing transformation gimmick.
I have always wanted to create a transforming robot that can change its appearance completely without human intervention, and this is the fulfillment of my long-cherished desire.
The five-storied pagoda is also equipped with a light-up effect, adding a fantastical effect to the transformation.
[Feature 3: Flying paper crane]
After the transformation, there is a gimmick that will give you even more surprises.
The origami cranes that had been parked at the foot of Mt. Fuji before the transformation will take flight. This allows the paper crane to knock down the ball from the high ground. You can get the ball without having to climb Mt. Fuji itself.
